Free massive improvement mod for Quake

Quake Reignited Mod is a free-to-use improvement mod for the classic first-person shooter experience by id Software, Quake. In this custom add-on from Boondori, you get to enjoy minor improvements that change how you play the original 1996 action experience. From reworking the weapon mechanics to making enemy animations and effects more impactful, giving you more than enough reason to revisit the game.

Quake Reignited Mod fits perfectly between the vanilla version and the Brutal Quake Mod in terms of difficulty. Its gore, however, makes it unsuitable for children. Other entries in the franchise include Quake Champions and Quake Live.

Reignite your Quake playing days

The main feature of Quake Reignited Mod is how it changes the difficulty level. It reworks the AI, making the enemy more challenging. Their line of sight is modified to cover a larger area, their movement speed is increased, and they now follow you around corners should you try to run. It also fixes certain animation issues that make the original game too easy, although the Spawn is nerfed.

To keep up with the improved monster behavior and overall difficulty buff, the player gets a massive weapon rework. Most changes are designed to make the game look more violent and gory, but also affect the game's difficulty. For example, the shotgun can now shoot more pellets for more scattered blasts but has reduced magazine size and fire rate. Even the Thunderbolt is made more powerful in this version.

While it looks fun overall, serious gamers might find an issue with the gameplay balance. The shotgun mentioned earlier not only makes the game even more visually impressive but has become too overpowered, especially when used in close to mid-range. This forces inexperienced players to stick to a single cheese strategy, of which the game has many. Also, the weapon sounds in this mod are horrible and ruin the mood.

A slightly challenging mod

With Quake Reignited Mod, it makes the original Quake game a bit more challenging. You enjoy more visceral special effects and monsters that are quite harder to shake off. It reworks the weapons, the items, and the enemies. Although it makes the vanilla version a lot more enjoyable, serious players who appreciated the original might find the imbalance frustrating. Still, it’s a must-try for regular players of the game.
